要約問題のサンプルと対策方法＆予想問題

英検準２級プラスで追加された英文要約問題では、約80語の英文を読み、25〜35語で内容をまとめるタスクが出題されます。自分の意見を書くのではなく、与えられた英文の要点を正確かつ簡潔に伝える力が求められます。日本語で要約するときと同様に、各段落ごとに１文で表現するのがポイントです。では、要約問題のサンプルを見てみましょう。

対策ポイントのまとめ！

まず大切なのは、要点を３文にまとめることです。３段落からなる英文が提示されますので、各段落につき１文ずつ書きましょう。メインアイデア（筆者の主張）を1文で示し、補足となる理由や具体例を２文で加える構成にすると読みやすくなります。

次に、文のつながりを意識すること。for example, because, however などの接続語をうまく使うことで、英文全体の流れが自然になります。

そして最も重要なのは、自分の意見を書かないことです。「要約」はあくまで元の文章の内容を短く伝えるタスクなので、感想や評価を加えると減点の対象になります。

意見文問題のポイントと予想問題

意見文問題のポイント

意見問題では、準２級同様に与えられた質問に対して自分の考えを英語で述べ、その理由を2つ示す力が評価されます。解答は50〜60語程度です。文の長さよりも、構成の明確さと文法の正確さが重視されます。

ポイント①：まず結論から書く

最初の文で、自分の立場（Yes／No）をはっきりと示しましょう。英検では「結論を先に述べる」ことが基本です。

• I think students should wear school uniforms.
  （私は、生徒たちは制服を着るべきだと思います。）
• I don’t think students should wear school uniforms.
  （私は、生徒たちは制服を着るべきではないと思います。）

このように、1文目で立場を明確にすると、文章全体が論理的に整理しやすくなります。
そのあとに理由を2つ書き、最後にまとめの文（For these reasons〜）で締める構成が最も読みやすいです。

ポイント②：理由を「First」「Second」で整理する

英検の採点基準では、「論理の一貫性」が重視されます。 理由を列挙するときには、次のようなつなぎ言葉を使って流れをはっきりさせましょう。

• First,（まず最初に）
• Second,（次に）
• For these reasons,（これらの理由から）

これらの表現を入れるだけで、文章の構成が明確になります。

ポイント③：難しい単語よりも正確な英文を

採点では、難しい単語や高度な文法を使うことよりも、正確で伝わりやすい英文を書くことが重視されます。無理に難しい語を使おうとせず、自分が確実に使える単語と文法で表現することが大切です。

正確さを保つために、次の点を特に確認しましょう。

• 主語と動詞の一致（He like → He likes）
• 時制の統一（過去の出来事には過去形を使用）
• スペルミス

英検のライティングでは、内容・構成・文法・語彙の4観点で評価されます。そのため、「正しい形で」「論理的に」書かれた英文は高く評価されます。難解な表現を狙うよりも、読みやすく、誤りのない英文を目指しましょう。
